Position: Communications Coordinator

Location: Barry University, Miami Shores, Florida

Salary range: $31,000-$37,000


Job Summary: 

Barry University is seeking applications and nominations for Communications Coordinator in the Office of Communications and Marketing. The Communications Coordinator works directly with the Assistant Vice President for Communications and Marketing and the Senior Communications Coordinator to develop and implement a plan that will increase the level of Barry University exposure in the local, regional, and national media.        

Responsibilities & Requirements:

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for the direct public and media relations of respective academic schools and divisions within Barry University as assigned by the AVP, and is part of the media relations team that oversees all university-wide publicity, as well as assists with all communication avenues of Barry University. The chosen candidate must be a team player, and display good judgment and discretion in dealing with all constituents and clients. As a member of our team, candidates must be willing to work occasional nights and/or weekends, should it be needed to represent the Office of Communications and Marketing at respective university events.  

The department’s responsibilities include media and public relations, print and electronic publications, event support, crisis communication, and marketing. Candidates should have a minimum of two years professional experience in public/media relations, preferably in higher education, or two years as a professional journalist. A bachelor’s degree is required. Applicants must pass writing and typing tests.
